Claire Clerkin gave up the "rat-race" in London to retrain as a Nutritional therapist. She has strongly believes in using real foods to create health and prevent illness. She works with individuals and groups to guide them on the road to great health and well-being. She runs a successful and popular 21 day detox programme in Monaghan Town and has clinics in Ireland and London. She follows Naturopathic principles and strives to educate individuals to take responsibility for their own health. Claire loves creating delicious nutritious foods, and will be sharing her nutritional expertise and cooking skills over the weekend. She writes a weekly blog, "Eating for Health" filled with healthy recipes and information on wellness.
Mairead Flynn is a highly trained and experienced yoga teacher, she has been teaching yoga since 1979. Part of the very first group of teachers to be trained in Northern Ireland, Mairead has studied in India, Singapore and the UK, and has taught at a number of international conferences. Her passion for the adventure of being human has taken Mairead to ashrams, convents and universities. For more than three decades she has immersed herself in Body-Mind approaches and along the way has qualified as a Stress Management therapist; teacher of Sacred Dance, teacher of Mindfulness and Meditation and Reflexologist. She is currently nearing the end of a three year training in Somatic Experiencing, a body-based approach to healing trauma and accumulated stress. Mairead sees her role as a therapist as helping the individual to find their own way towards physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and resilience. She will be leading the yoga and mindfulness sessions during the weekend.
Margaret Palmer has been working in the holistic health field for over 20 years, and she is a qualified and registered herbalist, aromatherapist and naturopath. She runs a Complementary Medicine clinic in Monaghan town, and teaches courses and workshops on a wide range of subjects. Her mission is to revive the lost art of kitchen medicine - making simple home remedies from ingredients commonly found in our kitchens and gardens. This is the fun side of herbalism, learning how to make herbal teas, medicines, creams, lotions and much more. She is currently working towards an MSc degree in herbal medicine, and she writes a weekly column, "Naturally Healthy" in the local Northern Standard newspaper.
